The dangers of nightshades: Consuming the wrong fruits and vegetables could make your pain worse!

A group of plants that belong to the Solanaceae family is called nightshades. This family includes over 2,000 species like potatoes, eggplants, tomatoes, and all types of pepper.

Some fruits like huckleberries, ashwagandha blueberries, and Goji berries are not members of this group, but they also lead to inflammation because they contain a chemical called solanine. This chemical can also irritate the gastrointestinal tract. When the solanine is absorbed into the bloodstream, it destroys the red blood cells in the body that are responsible for carrying oxygen.

Actually, this chemical prevents the breakdown of acetylcholinesterase, which is a neurotransmitter. So, this chemical will be accumulated in the spots where there are nerve receptors. As a result, it will lead to constant over-stimulation of the Ach receptors. The body cannot break down these chemicals, and they are not water soluble.

Eating nightshades can cause symptoms of aggravated arthritis. Some researchers claim that this condition is often misdiagnosed in people that are sensitive to nightshades. The alkaloids inside of the nightshades will affect the metabolism of calcium. This means that calcium will be removed from the bones and will be accumulated in the soft tissues. This will lead to arthritis. That’s why health experts advise patients suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or other joint problems, to stop consuming nightshade foods.

The founder of the Arthritis Nightshades Research Foundation, Mr. Norman F. Childers. Ph. D., explains that diet is the biggest factor in the etiology of the surveys about arthritis and he also adds that the nightshades lead to arthritis in people that are more sensitive to it.

Moreover, the elimination of nightshades from your diet will provide positive effects in cases of knee pain, arthritis-related diseases like rheumatism and lupus, reactive airways disease and leg weakness.

  • All varieties of peppers like chili peppers, green and red peppers, paprika, cayenne, bell pepper etc.
  • Eggplant
  • Goji berries
  • Artichokes
  • Tomatillos

  • Cayenne pepper
  • Okra
  • Gooseberries
  • Tobacco
  • Paprika
  • Pepino melon
  • Garden huckleberry and blueberries
  • Soy sauce

You should also avoid the following products:

  • Edible flowers: petunia, day jasmine, angel and devil’s trumpets, chalice vine
  • Vodka
  • H. remedies that contain Belladonna
  • Baking powder (if it contains potato starch)
  • Medications that contain potato starch, like medications that can relax your muscles and sleeping pills.
  • Atropine and Scopolamine that is used in sleeping pills
  • Pain and Inflammation remedies that contain capsicum

The three-month challenge

If you want to check whether the nightshades have a negative impact on your overall health, you should try this three-month challenge. It means that you need to avoid the nightshades in this time period.

Be very careful and pay attention to all the symptoms that you experience during that time, including headaches, respiratory issues, stiffness, and energy loss. After 3 months, reintroduce these plants to your diet, one at a time.
