The expression that our eyes are the window to our soul is pretty cliche nowadays, but now it looks like there’s some real science to back up the expressions.
Scientists at Orebro University in Sweden conducted a study on 428 subjects to see if their personalities were associated to their eye color. They found that eye color is affected by the same genes that form the frontal lobes of the brain and that this means that there are distinct shared behaviors in people with similar eye colors.
Dr. Anthony Fallone of Edinburgh University has studied the connections between eyes and personality as well. He says, “The eye is so closely linked neurologically to the brain that you might call it the only part of our brain you can see from the outside. It seems to hold vital clues to our brain function.”
So what color are your eyes and what do they say about your personality?
You are likely a natural born leader and a strong personality. If you have eyes that are so dark brown that they appear black you might be perceived as secretive and mysterious. Also, people with darker eyes are considered to be more agreeable. Another study shoes that people with dark eyes are better at sports that involve hitting a target, such as tennis.
You have great physical strength and inner strength, even if people cannot see it. Sometimes people judge you before they get to know you and they might assume you are timid, weak and untrustworthy. Also, sometimes people perceive blue eyed people as being egotistical and competitive. However, a study by the University of Pittsburgh suggested that women who have lighter colored eyes will tolerate the pain of giving birth better than those with dark eyes.
Gray eyes are incredibly rare. If you have gray eyes, it’s actually a shade of blue that’s just a bit more dim.
You’re an exceptionally well balanced person but there is an inner part of you that can feel sometimes difficult to control. You tend to be defensive and make people work hard to get through your barriers.
These are eyes that change in color from brown to green, or contain both colors. Since this color is uncommon, people with hazel eyes feel from a young age that they are special. If you have hazel eyes you are likely to be confident, independent and spontaneous. Also, you might also be prone to liver issues and digestive problems.
Brown eyed people tend to be assertive and agreeable and are likely to be in leadership positions. People with brown eyes are respectful, loyal, gentle – but not submissive. Also, according to a study in Chronobiology International people with brown eyes slept two hours less than people with lighter eyes.
People with green eyes are perceived as sexy, mysterious and alluring. They have a quiet self-sufficiency and they are often unpredictable. They are slow to anger and they are creative, and they tend to perform well under pressure.
